Backend Web Developer

We are seeking a Backend Leaning Web Developer to join our in-house dev team here at Tutora.

What is Tutora?

Our business connects local tutors with those looking to learn, across all subjects - from Maths and Science to Singing and Computing - you might think of us as the AirBnb of Education. Having only launched 2 years ago, we are now backed by some of the UK's leading investors and have grown to become the largest tutoring company in the UK.

The Role

We are now recruiting top class developers to further grow our development team, and would welcome applications from outstanding programmers here in Sheffield.

This is not a 9 to 5 office job! You'll be working at the heart of a rapidly growing business, interacting with the whole team to find real-life solutions for our users. We'd like to hear from entrepreneurial candidates with an enthusiasm for growing our business and a desire to work in the start-up world.

You will be responsible for developing scalable, clean features to improve the user experience of our customers - both students and tutors. To do so, you will work closely with our existing designer and other members of the dev team, taking responsibility for entire sections of the site. This is an exciting opportunity to carve out a unique role in a rapdily growing company and create something to be truly proud of.

An ideal candidate will, therefore, have:

  • Essential: PHP development experience, ideally on the Laravel framework.
  • Essential: Experience of database and server optimisation, as well as building sites to scale.
